Union County Scrimmage Set

Union County coaches are coming home.

UCHS will host a football scrimmage on Friday, Aug. 15, at Union County Stadium. All teams competing are coached by former Yellow Jackets.

Greg Lawson (head coach, Laurens), Scott Lawson (athletic director, Woodruff), Kevin Farmer (head coach, Chapman), Mike Clowney (head coach, Emerald) and Wayne Bell (head coach Saluda) all are former Jackets and will return home for the reunion.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. as the UCHS band plays. Laurens plays Woodruff at 7 p.m., followed by Chapman versus Emerald at 7:45 and Union County against Saluda at 8:30.

On Saturday, Aug. 2, Union County coach David Lipsey and the former Jacket coaches will talk about the scrimmage at 9 a.m. on WBCU. The live broadcast will originate from Ivey's.

Summer notes: Union county's football team is at Presbyterian College Camp today ... The Jackets will host York in a passing league on Thursday ... Team photos are tentatively scheduled for July 24 ... The first day of practice is Aug. 1.
